NBC DONATES 2 MILLION SHILLINGS TO UYAWENKO WOMEN’S GROUP
The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated 20 desks, worth TZS 1,000,000, text books worth TSZ 500,000 and school uniforms worth TZS 500,000 to Uyawenko Women’s Group in Dar es Salaam. The generous donation is for 50 orphan students that are under the care of UYAWENKO Women’s Group. Started in 2003 and officially registered in 2006 UYAWENKO Women’s Group has 15 members who care for orphans, widows, disabled children and people living with the HIV/AIDS virus. NBC’s Communication Consultant Robi Matiko speaking during the handover ceremony on behalf of NBC stated “NBC is in the forefront in support of women initiatives and UYAWENKO Women’s Group is an excellent example of women working to improve the lives of everyone is their communities. We salute you for your noble initiative and I would like to assure you all of NBC’s continuous support” affirmed Ms. Matiko. Uyawenko Women’s group based in Ukonga in Dar es Salaam caters for 334 orphans from nursery school up to secondary school. The group also cares for 30 individuals living with HIV/AIDS out of which 7 are primary school children. Receiving the donation on behalf on Unyawenko Women’s Group, the group’s chairperson Mary Katobesi thanked NBC saying the donation will go along way in improving the lives of the children under the group’s care. “On behalf of my fellow members and the children we thank NBC for their generous donation because our children can now study normally without feeling left out. We hope you will continue supporting us” said Mrs. Katobesi. NBC has spent over 17 million shillings towards education initiatives since January 2009 to help schools in the in the communities the bank serves. The donations made by NBC include desks, science equipments, computers, text books, uniforms and refurbishing classrooms.

NBC DONATES NEW MOBILE CLINIC
28 Sep 2011: At least 225,212 people, mostly women and children in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, have received medical care through mobile clinics, deployed by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) since 2002.
The Bank's Managing Director, Lawrence Mafuru said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the clinics were also useful during the Medical Association of Tanzania Health Camp in the Lake Zone Area; the 2003 Africa Malaria Day' the 2007 Mass Drug Administration against Filarlasis (Matende) and also during the Gongo la Mboto bomb blasts when the Clinics were on site providing medical care.
NBC SUPPORTS THE MEDIA COUNCIL OF TANZANIA
05 May 2011: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has supported the Media Council on its Excellence in Journalism Awards (EJAT) event that took place on 3rd May 2011, on World Press Freedom Day. NBC sponsored the Economic and Business Award in Print and Electronic media segment at TZS 5,000,000.
NBC DONATES 11.5 MILLION TO KCMC
07 Mar 2011: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) through its Corporate Social Responsibility Fund has donated TZS 10 million to Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Moshi recently. The donation was made at the hospital’s 40th Anniversary fundraising dinner whereby Archbishop Alex Malasusa was the Guest of Honour.
NBC DONATES TO BOMB BLAST VICTIMS
28 Feb 2011: The National Bank of Commerce has joined other well-wishers and supporters by donating materials worth TShs 5.5 million to victims of Gongo la Mboto bomb blasts which occurred last month in Dar es Salaam.
NBC's Communication's Consultant, Robi Matiko-Simba said the bank donated100 mattresses worth Tsh 3.5 million and it also sponsored mobile clinics to provide health services to the victims of the bomb blast of free of charge.
NBC DONATES 34M TSHS TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF TUMAINI UNIVERSITY DAR ES SALAAM COLLEGE
09 Jul 2010: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated TZS 34 000,000 towards the construction of Tumanini University DSM College.
The donation under NBC's Colleagues Initiative which is the bank's ongoing CSR program was pledged by the bank's new MD Mr. Lawrence Mafuru during a fundraising dinner that was held at the Blue Pearl Hotel on Tuesday.
