NBC DONATES SEWING MACHINES WORTH 2.5 M TSHS TO UPENDO ALBINOS GROUP
The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) through its corporate social responsibility program has donated sewing machines worth 2.5 million Tshs to Upendo Albino’s Group in Vingunguti Dar es Salaam. Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Group center in Vingunguti, the NBC’s Marketing Consultant, Ms. Robi Matiko said “We are pleased to handover these Sewing machines that we believe will assist in the groups various activities to sustain itself and its activities. This donation comes as a measure to encourage various groups to look for ways to become self sustained. It is a way of showing them that though it is ok to look for help, it’s even better to operate when you do not have to rely on someone else too much. We hope Upendo Albino Group will be able to generate enough to fund more sewing machines for themselves and eventually run a fully fledged sewing business possibly.” While receiving the donation from NBC, Upendo Albino Group Chairperson Mr. Japheth Felix thanked NBC for the generous donation. “We at Upendo Albino Group are very grateful to NBC for this donation of sewing machines that they have brought us. We have been struggling to make ends meet mostly because up until now we do not have our own project to help us generate a steady income. Often we have been forced to source funds from various institutions and well wishers but now because of this donation we are hopeful that we can now begin to plant the seeds for a self sustainable future. Once again thank you NBC for your kind donation and may others follow in your footsteps,” said Mr. Felix. NBC’s corporate social responsibility program aims at improving the quality of education in schools and healthcare facilities countrywide as well as any educational project that impacts the lives of many. The provision of sewing machines to Upendo Albino Group follows other similar donations NBC has made to various healthcare centers, schools and higher learning institutions throughout Tanzania.
