18 Oct 2011: IN a move aimed at providing more convenient services to its clients, NBC Limited, has launched a MasterCard that will enable customers to access financial services globally.

NBC DONATES NEW MOBILE CLINIC

28 Sep 2011: At least 225,212 people, mostly women and children in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, have received medical care through mobile clinics, deployed by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) since 2002. The Bank's Managing Director, Lawrence Mafuru said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the clinics were also useful during the Medical Association of Tanzania Health Camp in the Lake Zone Area; the 2003 Africa Malaria Day' the 2007 Mass Drug Administration against Filarlasis (Matende) and also during the Gongo la Mboto bomb blasts when the Clinics were on site providing medical care.

NBC launches Corporate & Business Islamic Current Accounts

09 Aug 2011: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has introduced Corporate and Business Islamic Current Accounts for businesses that would like to operate under Islamic rules.The move follows the Islamic banking savings account for individuals, which has been successful since it was launched in May last year.

NBC DONATES TO BOMB BLAST VICTIMS

28 Feb 2011: The National Bank of Commerce has joined other well-wishers and supporters by donating materials worth TShs 5.5 million to victims of Gongo la Mboto bomb blasts which occurred last month in Dar es Salaam. NBC's Communication's Consultant, Robi Matiko-Simba said the bank donated100 mattresses worth Tsh 3.5 million and it also sponsored mobile clinics to provide health services to the victims of the bomb blast of free of charge.

NBC ANNOUNCES 2010 FINANCIAL RESULTS

11 Feb 2011: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has recorded a total income of TZS 176.5bn for the twelve months ended 31st December 2010. This represents a 7% increase year on year compared to TZS 164.2bn recorded for the same period in 2009. This modest revenue growth is mainly a result of strong growth of our asset book which grew by 10% during the year 2010 resulting into a total interest income of TZS 123.9bn. Our asset book is made of both loans and advances to private sector and investment in government securities. Interest income contributed 70% of our income while non-interest income was 30% of the total income. Our non-interest income was driven by Treasury income as well as service fees and commissions.

NBC Launches FX Options Derivatives

13 Oct 2010: In its efforts to provide innovative products to its clients that can help them to better manager their financial risks, National Bank of Commerce (NBC) last week launched FX Options derivatives to its corporate clients. The product aims at assisting corporate; especially the likes of exporters and importers, to minimize their foreign exchange risk. "We have seen a lot of volatility with the Tanzanian Shilling recently resulting into uncertainty to those with foreign exchange exposure and an the FX Options product is another hedging tool that our customers can use to minimize their FX risk, in addition to the already existing FX Forward Contract product" said Mr. Pius Tibazarwa, Head of Treasury at NBC during an interview.

NBC DONATES 34M TSHS TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF TUMAINI UNIVERSITY DAR ES SALAAM COLLEGE

09 Jul 2010: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated TZS 34 000,000 towards the construction of Tumanini University DSM College.

The donation under NBC's Colleagues Initiative which is the bank's ongoing CSR program was pledged by the bank's new MD Mr. Lawrence Mafuru during a fundraising dinner that was held at the Blue Pearl Hotel on Tuesday.
