NBC HOLDS WELLNESS MINI LAUNCH IN ARUSHA

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) held its second mini launch of its Wellness Programme this year for its staff members from the Tanzanite Zone that took place in Arusha at the Lush Garden, Sakina kwa Idd. The first Wellness Day took place in Iringa on February 19th 2009 covering the Highland zone. NBC staff and their families from 7 branches that make up the Tanzanite Zone region namely Arusha, Babati, Karatu, Meru, Moshi, Singida and Sinoni branches had a chance to undergo various medical checkups to know their health status to help them be more productive at work.  The guest of honour for the mini launch was the Tanzanite Zone Area Manager Mr. Athumani Julius who stressed to his colleagues the need to maintain healthy lifestyles if they are to ‘’LIVE WELL, WORK WELL’’ which is also the slogan for the Wellness programme. “The NBC Wellness Programme is an initiative started by our employer for our benefit and we should all take advantage of this noble opportunity and have our health status checked” added Mr. Julius. The wellness Programme was initially launched at NBC headquarters in Dar es Salaam in September 2008 and aims to address various Psychological, Spiritual, Physical, Social and Medical difficulties experienced by employees, and come up with strategies to assist them to overcome these problems using three integrated core issues, that is the Employee Assistance Program, HIV& AIDS Program and Core Health Management Program.             

A healthy workforce is paramount to any employer and NBC is no different and that is why they came up with the Wellness Programme for all its employees and their families to help us live well by watching our diet, engage in physical activities, seek support when needed to be in the right state of mind for us to work well in order to achieve the work life balance” asserted Mr. Julius.

NBC Hands over Secondary School Library Building in Lindi
13 Dec 2012: THE National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has this weekend handed over a library building to Angaza Secondary School’s administration in Lindi Region as part of the banks Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives. Speaking during a brief ceremony held at the schools compound, NBCs Managing Director Mr. Lawrence Mafuru said that education is one of the banks priority areas in its social responsibility agenda. Six library buildings with a total cost of TZS 70m/- have already been renovated at different secondary schools in Tanzania and will soon be handed over to the respective schools administrations.


NBC Launches Leadership in action, I CARE, Campaign
20 Nov 2012: NBC yesterday launched a customer service campaign which will stretch to the end of November and involve the entire NBC Leadership team. The campaign known as Leadership in action, I CARE, focuses on improving service provision to NBC customers. It is a service focus day for the NBC Leadership Team.


NBC WRAPS UP DABO MSHIKO CAMPAIGN WITH 10 FINAL WINNERS
17 Oct 2012: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) yesterday rewarded the final round of winners of the Dabo Mshiko deposit campaign which has been running countrywide since July 18th 2012 and has seen 30 lucky winners double their deposits. The Handover was done at the NBC Head Office, where four lucky winners from Dar were given their prize money, while others from upcountry branches were rewarded at their respective branches. This round saw winners emerging from Mwanza, Tanga as well as Songea Regions.


NBC Managing Director, Lawrence Mafuru reinstated after probe
08 Oct 2012: On 19th July 2012, the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Commerce announced that Mr Lawrence Mafuru, the Managing Director of National Bank of Commerce had been requested and accepted to go on leave in order to allow investigations into irregularities allegedly perpetrated at the Bank. The allegations which originated from a whistleblower report raised issues around irregular governance practices, fraud and corruption against the NBC Executive Management team. Driven by the values of the Bank and need to maintain high standards of good corporate governance the Board of Directors of National Bank of Commerce initiated thorough investigations into all the issues raised by the whistleblower with a view of establishing the validity of the allegations for appropriate actions to be taken.
