
NBC DONATES COMPUTERS TO SENGERAMA SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Dar es Salaam, July 4th, 2009: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has donated 4 brand new computers worth TZS 7 million to the Sengerema Seminary Secondary school in Geita, Mwanza Region. The donation is part of the bank’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that has spent over 20 million shillings towards education initiatives since January 2009 to help schools in the in the communities the bank serves. NBC Geita Branch Manager Aliamin Mbeo speaking during the handover ceremony at the school on behalf of NBC reiterated the bank’s position when it comes to education “We are bank that values education and the role it plays in the development of our communities. Students need to be empowered and providing them with proper learning tools is a step towards improving their education and their future” stated Mr. Mbeo. Sengerema Seminary School is a boys only boarding school that was founded by the Catholic Church in 1995. The school currently has a total of 144 students with 12 teachers and the school specializes both in science and human Receiving the donation on behalf on the school, the Bishop of the Diocese of Geita Rt. Rev. Damian Dallu said “Our student have received a great with the donation of these computers and they will now be in a position to learn more things with the help of technology and our teachers too will be able to easily demonstrate materials because they can diagrams and pictures to accompany their lectures. We are hopeful the students’ performance will improve”.
