NBC INJECTS TZS 10 MILLION INTO THE 2009 PRESIDENT’S MANUFACTURER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Dar es Salaam, Thursday 6th August: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) is the sole sponsor of the 2009 President’s Manufacturer of the Year Award (PMAYA) organized by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI). NBC’s sponsorship is to a tune of TZS 10 million for the Annual Business Dinner and awards ceremony to be held at the MovenPick Hotel in Dar es Salaam with His Excellency President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete as the Guest of Honour. The PMAYA competition was first started in 2005 and NBC has always been involved as a co-sponsor and for the first time this year NBC is the only sponsor of highly anticipated Annual Business Dinner. NBC Managing Director Christo de Vries accepting a trophy of recognition from the Guest of Honour His Excellency President Jakaya Kikwete said that the PMAYA competition is one avenue that challenges corporate companies to improve on quality of products and services to the public. “NBC is an active member of CTI and we felt obliged to support the local manufacturing industry not only through financial and banking services but also through this prestigious competition.” The President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA) Competition is an annual event organized by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries and is open to all fully paid members for that year. The competition climaxes with the Annual Business Dinner where winners are awarded their trophies by the President who is the Guest of Honour. CTI Chairman Felix N Mosha thanked NBC for their continued support of the awards for the past 5 years. “NBC has been with us since the inception of the awards in 2005 and they have been more than sponsors but as our advisers and very active members. They are leaders among their peers.” “NBC would like to thank the CTI Governing Council and the CTI Secretariat for their unwavering support in allowing us to be part of this auspicious occasion and we would like to affirm our continuing supporting to CTI in the coming years” affirmed Mr. Christo.
