NBC MLIMANI CITY BRANCH DONATES SCHOOL DESKS WORTH TSHS 2,5 M TO MAKABE PRIMARY SCHOOL

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC)‘s Mlimani City Branch has donated school desks valued at TZS 2.500,000 under the NBC Colleagues Initiative which is the bank’s ongoing CSR program.  While speaking during the handover ceremony NBC Mlimani City Branch Manager Mr. Frank Mwanga said NBC hopes the desks will help to ensure a more conducive environment for the children to learn in: “It is very important that we all work to ensure that our children are taught in an environment that promotes their learning abilities and encourages them to strive for better. NBC hopes that these desks will aid this purpose in one way or another, by ensuring that less students are placed on the floor  uncomfortably during schooling hours when they need to concentrate most on what the teacher is teaching them and less on how painful their legs or backs feel from sitting on the floor..” Said Mr. Mwanga Speaking on behalf of the school, Makabe Primary school’s head teacher Mrs. Shayo thanked NBC for the donation saying it will ease the discomfort of a lot of their pupils. “Our school is faced with the problem of a shortage of desks for our students to utilize and as a result they have had to either squeeze on the few available desks or sit on the floor. This situation has been very discouraging for a lot of these children and many have even lost the interest to learn.  By making this donation, NBC has restored our faith in the ability of corporate companies to look beyond just their business interests and care about the well being of our children. Thank you to everyone at NBC for this much needed donation. It is our hope that our association with you will not end here today but continue well into the future, perhaps even a few of our students will one day be this great bank’s employees.” Said Mrs. Shayo  Under the NBC Colleagues Initiative each bank branch and directorate is allocated TZS 2,500,000 to donate to any educational project that impacts the lives of many. This corporate social responsibility program aims at improving the quality of education in schools countrywide. NBC has spent over 183 million shillings towards education initiatives to help schools in the communities that the bank serves.
