NBC DONATES T-SHIRTS WORTH TSHS 7.5 M TO MARK INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC has donated t-shirts valued at TZS 7,500,000 to mark International Women’s Day, under the NBC Colleagues Initiative which is the bank’s ongoing CSR program.  While speaking during the handover ceremony held at the Ministry of Gender, Women and Children offices in Dar es Salaam, NBC Marketing Manager, William Kallaghe said NBC is ready to help push for the development of women in Tanzania as they play a very vital role in the nation’s development, “At NBC we believe there is always something more that can be done to ensure better living conditions especially for the women who hold the very core of our development together. It is key that they prosper for when they succeed they succeed with us all, and when they grow they grow with the nation.  NBC stands in awe of the Tanzanian woman’s strength and grace. We are inspired by her journey to peace, prosperity and a hopeful future. And today we stand proud to offer her our help in finding it.Said Mr. Kallaghe. Speaking as she received the donation during the event, the Minister of Gender, Women and Children, Hon. Margareth Sitta thanked NBC  for showing their support for women and called on other institutions to show their support in anyway they can, “ NBC have taken an important step in joining us as we prepare to mark International Women’s Day. Their donation will be remembered as we celebrate and their presence will be felt through it. Thank you NBC for showing women all over Tanzania that you are not too busy to remember and celebrate their hard work and efforts to make this great nation what is. I call on other institutes to do likewise and show solidarity as we celebrate our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters.this year we mark International Womens Day in Tabora.” Said Ms. Sitta Under the NBC Colleagues Initiative each bank branch and directorate is allocated TZS 2,500,000 to donate to any educational project that impacts the lives of many. This corporate social responsibility program aims at improving the quality of education in schools countrywide. NBC has spent over 200 million shillings towards education initiatives to help schools in the communities that the bank serves.

NBC DONATES NEW MOBILE CLINIC
28 Sep 2011: At least 225,212 people, mostly women and children in the outskirts of Dar es Salaam, have received medical care through mobile clinics, deployed by the National Bank of Commerce (NBC) since 2002. The Bank's Managing Director, Lawrence Mafuru said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the clinics were also useful during the Medical Association of Tanzania Health Camp in the Lake Zone Area; the 2003 Africa Malaria Day' the 2007 Mass Drug Administration against Filarlasis (Matende) and also during the Gongo la Mboto bomb blasts when the Clinics were on site providing medical care.


NBC launches Corporate & Business Islamic Current Accounts
09 Aug 2011: The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) has introduced Corporate and Business Islamic Current Accounts for businesses that would like to operate under Islamic rules.The move follows the Islamic banking savings account for individuals, which has been successful since it was launched in May last year.
