NBC PROVES ITS DOMINANCE YET AGAIN
NBC Ltd continues to show its ascendancy in the Tanzanian banking sector. This time, it scooped the Bank of the year Award, Bank with the best technology and Best Corporate Bank of the year from the prestigious Bank Awards 2005 held on the 10 of December 2005 at the Golden Tulip. The event was officiated by the Country Director of the World Bank, Judy O’Conner and the Deputy Governor of Bank of Tanzania, Juma Reli among other dignitaries.
The 2005 Bank Awards is the only banking award event that rated all 27 financial institutions in the country. It also served as a symbol of initiative from the private sector with the participation of various coporates from different sectors of the economy.
The selection criterion was quite comprehensive. All the banks that were adjudicated had to be licensed by the Bank of Tanzania. There were strict regulations to be adhered to that neither; The Bankers association of Tanzania nor auditing firms would take part in the adjudication process. A team of research consultants from Britain conducted surveys, case studies as well as researches on all the 27 financial institutions since the beginning of 2005.As a result, came up with the winners in the various categories
The nominated categories were, Bank of the year, Ceo of the year, Bank with best contribution to community development, Lifetime achievement award, Bank with best contribution to agriculture, Bank with best advertising and marketing, Bank with best technology, Best regional bank 2005,Best corporate Banker of 2005, Best retail bank and finally Best employer Bank for 2005.
A workshop was held before the Banker’s Awards, specifically targeting senior management in the fields of Banking, Marketing, Human Resources and IT in Tanzania. The workshop enhanced the purpose of the banker’s awards and the need to have such events in Tanzania where banks are awarded in several areas where they excel in performance.
The award for best technology was the ultimate signature of NBC’s footprint for having the largest electronically linked network of 35 branches and the largest number (52) of VISA-enabled Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) strategically located throughout Tanzania providing convenient 24-hour banking services. This is further incorporated with exclusive, pioneering and personalized banking services that are specifically suited to our customers.
Corporate Banking is one of the prime aspects that demands particular attention from the bank. The corporate bank award signifies NBC’s continued endeavor of service, loyalty and assurance to its clients. The awards not only symbolized excellence for NBC but also served as motivation for its entire team.
