NBC announces 1m/- ‘Cash
in a Flash’ winner
The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) Ltd today announced
the winner of the NBC Cash in a Flash competition, which
was launched on 17 January 2005. Mr. Sume Silvan Kunambi,
a customer with an account from NBC Bukoba Branch, accepted
a cheque of Tsh 1 million, as grand prize for winning in
the competition.
Speaking shortly after receiving
the cheque at NBC Head Office in Dar es Salaam, Mr Kunambi,
35, a widower and employee of Tanzania Revenue Authority
(TRA), said he will use the money to pay school fees for
his two children aged five and two years.
“I am very delighted
to be the winner. This is the highest prize of my life,
Kunambi said. The customer praised NBC for its extensive
ATM network, which provides Tanzanians in remote countryside
equal access to modern banking services.
NBC, the longest established
bank in Tanzania has 41 ATMs countrywide including Zanzibar
offering the most convenient 24-hour banking service.
The three-month Cash
in a Flash competition, which ended on April 18, 2005 aimed
at encouraging the usage of ATMs and as a way of rewarding
NBC customers for their loyalty.
“At NBC we understand the meaning of convenience banking,
and we want to reward our customers for their loyalty and
support,” says Johann de Wet, executive director of
NBC Ltd.
Entry into the competition was automatic upon using any
NBC ATM. All that NBC customers were required to do was
withdraw cash at any of the Bank’ ATMs located throughout
the country. The more the cash withdrawals made, the more
chances of winning.
Every two weeks, five winners were chosen and rewarded with
Tsh100,000 each. Each of the winners was contacted telephonically
and the names displayed in all NBC branches. At the end
of the competition the thirty winning customers were entered
into a final draw where Mr. Kunambi walked away with the
grand prize of Tsh1 million.
